Below are the standard documents required for each visa category. Individual countries may ask for additional paperwork โ always confirm with the respective embassy.
โ Visa-Free Entry
- Valid Indian passport (min. 6 months validity)
- Aadhaar Card (original + photocopy โ accepted as identity proof at many airports)
- PAN Card (carry as secondary photo ID and for forex transactions above โน50,000)
- Return / onward flight ticket
- Proof of accommodation (hotel booking)
- Sufficient funds (bank statement, last 3 months)
- Travel insurance (recommended; mandatory for some)
- Passport-size photographs (2, white background)
- Yellow fever vaccination certificate (select African countries)

- Valid Indian passport (min. 6 months validity)
- Aadhaar Card (original + photocopy โ useful as supporting ID at immigration)
- PAN Card (required for currency exchange / forex card loading at airport)
- Completed arrival / immigration form

- Return / onward flight ticket
- Proof of accommodation

- Scanned passport bio-data page (JPEG/PDF)
- Aadhaar Card scan (required by some countries as additional identity verification)
- PAN Card (mandatory for forex/travel card loading; scan sometimes required for online applications)
- Recent passport-size photograph (digital, white background)
- Return / onward flight ticket details
- Proof of accommodation
- Bank statement (last 3โ6 months)

- Debit/credit card for visa fee payment

- Valid Indian passport (min. 6 months validity)
- Aadhaar Card (original + self-attested photocopy โ accepted as address proof by most embassies)
- PAN Card (original + photocopy โ required for financial documents and forex above โน50,000)
- Completed visa application form
- Passport-size photographs (2โ4, white background)
- Flight itinerary / confirmed tickets
- Hotel bookings / invitation letter
- Bank statement (last 3โ6 months, min. balance varies)
- Income tax returns (ITR) โ last 2โ3 years
- Salary slips / proof of employment / business registration
- Travel insurance (mandatory for Schengen, UK, etc.)
- Cover letter stating purpose of visit
- No-objection certificate (if employed)
- Visa fee (varies; non-refundable)
๐ธ Photo Specifications
- Size: 35mm ร 45mm (standard international)
- Background: plain white or off-white
- Face: full face, front-facing, eyes open
- Expression: neutral, mouth closed
- No glasses (most countries now require this)
- No head coverings (except for religious reasons)
- Taken within the last 6 months
- High resolution (digital): min. 600 ร 800 px, JPEG
- Print quality: matte finish preferred
๐ก Pro Tips
- Always carry originals + 2 photocopies of every document
- Aadhaar Card โ carry original + 2 photocopies; mask your full Aadhaar number on copies (use masked Aadhaar from UIDAI website)
- PAN Card โ mandatory for forex transactions above โน50,000 and international debit/credit card loading
- Keep digital copies of Aadhaar, PAN, passport and visa in email / cloud storage (DigiLocker is accepted at Indian airports)
- Book refundable hotels when visa is pending
- Apply at least 4โ8 weeks before travel for embassy visas
- Carry USD 100โ500 cash as backup at border crossings
- Check if your destination requires a yellow fever certificate
- Ensure passport has at least 2 blank pages for stamps
- Travel insurance min. coverage: USD 30,000 recommended
